People who make coffee for a living are closer to God than the rest of us.
I am 100% about the Hanukkah talent show/slam at Kieran's on Dec 19th! Guest hosted by one of the best Jews in the upper midwest!

Bad Day
I like the music Steve Seel(the DJ currently on air on MPR's "The Current") plays but I hate that he talks too much. Like Mark Wheat.
Good DJ, but he still has the very Shatner-esqe delivery(minus most of William Shatner's charm) like he did in the OLD DAYS at Radio K.
Also I hate the bugs I'm working on at work. My current project is rife with cases where the designers were penny wise and dollar foolish.

Those of you with deep knowledge of my psyche know I love The Who. Townshend == God.
Here's a link to a web page with two of their new songs. Rockin'!
The last couple of weeks ideas for winter projects have been coalescing in my mind:
1) I want to build a kayak. The kayak I want to buy costs $3500. I can't afford it. But I think my rudimentary woodworking skills could make it happen. In junior high, I got a blue ribbon at the state fair for my birdhouse, after all.
2) I want to get involved with Smalltalk. And I want to make Smalltalk run on the JVM. Unknown to most people, Sun Microsystems( the makers of Java ) announced future changes to the vm that will make it much more friendly to dynamically typed languages. So, I'm going to write a Smalltalk to JVM parser and compiler. Or that's the hope anyway.
ciao, muthafuckas!

It was a GREAT show...even with torrential rain before the show. I jumped up and down a lot, and sang along the whole show. Even to songs I didn't know. The only downer was they only played stuff off their last 3 albums( excluding 'She Don't Use Jelly', the final show before the encore).
Here's a review from the Strib.

And now for something completely different
So....Last week, instead of going to Iowa to RAGBRAI, I took myself any my bike(and my younger brother Ryan) to Ireland.
It was awesome. Great cycling, great views, and pretty fun smart Irish girls(but I already knew that).
I look forward to going back. Some time in the near future look forward to a link to pictures.

Get Saved. Accept Paul McCartney into your heart.
Wow. I have two ads up in the whole goole adbox (have I mentioned it would help me get a new laptop/car/or vacation? click one, just for the ol' mickster) for a Jesus ringtone and a evangelical web site. Strange.
But really. You should think about getting saved.....Have you every thought of creating a personal relationship with you savior, one one and only Paul McCartney(Holy be his name)?

Welcome to '99. No, not, like, in a Prince-Type way.
I know I should have heard and worshipped The Magnetic Fields' '69 Love Songs' collection in my ol' college radio days (even though it was released in my punk/jazz phase, not my Yo La Tango phase) but I just got it this week and it rocked my socks off.

Elliott Smith is Dead but keeps cloning himself!
Whenever I flip on the current all I hear are Elliott Smith clones. One Elliott Smith is good, but clones must be shot!

Katherine Kersten head makes a thought!
Wow. Katherine Kersten, the worst of the Star Tribune columnists has finally written her first well thought out column on the issue of public stadium financing.
At least I think so.
And I should say that generally I only read her column for laughs.

Coon Rapids always takes you down a notch.
First, I get the adulation of the City Pages staff.
Then I get the brass knuckles.
Poon Rapids!? At least I didn't grow up in Blaine

Have I ever mentioned that I went to St. John's?
In the areas of intellect, government, arts, sports, those of us from the shores of Lake Sagatagan are modern day Athenians.

Sometimes the anonymous eyes of the web glow in the dark....
So...I was looking through my page stats....kinda interesting. And creepy. It makes you wonder who would, and even why someone would google your name at 10:45 on a Tuesday night. Especially if they're in St. Paul. And if earlier in the afternoon some ghetto blaster didn't almost send you to meet Jebus with his pimped out Chrysler Concorde.
On a less creepy note my BMW motorcycle parts should arrive tomorrow. With any luck, sometime soon I'll be unsafe at any speed(more than I am now if possible).

My blogging buddies-
It's been so long. And I've missed you, but you never call.
But I figured I'd re-break the blogging bar seal and state my name, rank, and favorite cereal.
Big news:
1)I'm dating a girl again. She's nice, but a drama queen.
2)The Replacements reunited and recorded a couple of new songs. Dang. That means I'll have to buy the complete best-of disk they'll be on. Unless iTunes sells them individually.
3)I'm still playing piano, etc, and this summer I'll be playing with some jazz cats. Most likely piano, but I never get to play bass so I'm hoping for that.
4)Still. No. Car. Hate. People. On. Bus.
5)The bald spot is getting more noticeable. Pretty soon I'll have to use the Ron Popeil spray-on hair. Do they make it in shimmering red?
6)I've only listened to the first 5 tracks on the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album, but I can say without a doubt I liked the first five tracks on their first album more.
7)I'm expanding to two cycling trips this summer-my regular Iowa trip in July, and the MS 150 ride in June.
8)It's only April and I'm wearing size 34 jeans! The bus sucks, but it at least keeps this bull too small to slaughter.
9)Still working for the state. Currently I'm writing online admissions software that allows potential students to apply to any of our MNSCU schools.
well, know you know what's up, and it's time for this fish, long thought extinct, to return to the deep murky brine.
